The Sun Never Set have exploded onto the Metalcore/Hardcore/Prog scene in a big way and this debut EP hasn't only just been released to the masses: 4th August 2014.

Opening the EP with the sweetest guitar melodies this side of the moon, I am lulled into a false sense of security: it’s pretty. However pretty quickly turns into pretty nut-job-heavy in no time.

The thing that hits me first is the drums… Tighter that a very very tight thing and faster than light, Joey is working the kit like it's attached to his nervous system.  This is beautiful.

Everything about this EP screams professional. It's slick, has all the components of a winning record and each song has it's own set of defining elements.

Something that is astoundingly solid throughout is the vocals. I often find that hardcore vocals can lose the lyrics. Luke's annunciation of each word is a joy. I am able to hear the messages he is delivering through the passion of his vociferous screams with ease.

One Drop Of Blood And We’ll All See Red is a particular masterpiece in my opinion: the time signature changes are unbelievable. The melodic undercurrents to a song that has the potential to make lesser men's ears bleed is perfection.

You'd be forgiven for wondering if these guys can do no wrong.  Keep wondering. I'm still trying to find a flaw. This EP is dark, dangerous and delicious.

Valiant is tinged with melancholy. The guitars lilt in and out, a well thought-out lullaby to the anger projected by Luke. Just enough lead without an overtake, moving into driven distortion as the chorus crashes in.

It's easy to see why these boys are getting so much attention so quickly. They have spent two years crafting their sound, carefully planning their first steps into the recorded realm and they have done so in a way that is to be applauded.

The Sun Never Set have already supported the likes of The Blackout, and have more high profile shows in the line up.

Check out their website for gig information, more raving reviews and merchandise. TSNS are going to be on the radar of the masses damn soon, so it would be a good idea to let people know you were there from the beginning by jumping on a sick band early….
