Camden Rocks Festival Preview: Ugly Love

We caught up with Tom from rockers Ugly Love ahead of their set at Camden Rocks Festival...

The Punk Archive: Introduce yourselves to our readers...
Tom: ALRIGHT. My name is Tom Adolph and I am one quarter of a boy band called Ugly Love. I do the singy bits.

The Punk Archive: Are you excited to be playing Camden Rocks?
Tom: Very excited! We're playing early on in the day (Midday at The Barfly) so we're pretty much viewing it as a day out drinking and getting up to mischief in Camden. There's loads of bands we want to see, including a whole bunch of our friends' bands so I'm sure it'll be nothing short of fuckin' sick.

The Punk Archive: How has 2014 been for you so far?
Tom: Damn good! We've done a headline mini tour, made a video, released our first single, played Takedown Festival and toured the UK. That's quite a lot for a band like ours to fit into the first four months of the year I think, so it's been a bit mad. It's been fun and I haven't killed anyone yet, so that's good.

The Punk Archive: What can people expect from your live show?
Tom: Y'know I think we're different to a lot of new bands around at the moment. When we play live, our only goal is to dick around and have as much fun as possible so we're certainly not boring to watch. I think a lot bands forget that their job is to bring the mood up and entertain everyone in the room. We do that really well.  There's almost always a host of tacky inflatable toys, bubble guns, confetti shooters and some terrible, TERRIBLE jokes. Plus our songs are catchy as fuck. There's almost a mutual understanding between us and Ugly Love fans that neither of us are there to be cool. It's about letting lose and not caring if you look stupid in the process. If we can achieve this before lunchtime at Camden Rocks Festival then....SWEET!

The Punk Archive: What does the rest of 2014 hold for you?

Tom: We're currently saving up to buy a pony, so hopefully that'll happen by the end of the summer. Apart from that, Kit and I are getting married. Aw cute.
