The Punk Archive: I'm noticing two of you are wearing sunglasses [for the interview in the press room]. Are you hungover, or is it just that it's a bright day…?
Luke: Not yet…
Skarlett: Definitely not yet. It's just that it's bright, the skies…and the make-up smudging down my face…
The Punk Archive: (Laughing) What's happened on the way here?!
Martin: I'd like to point out mine aren't because of make-up…
The Punk Archive: So are you guys looking forward to playing today?
All: Oh yeah, we can't wait…
The Punk Archive: I can see the grins on your faces, it's nice to see….
Skarlett: It's going to be awesome!
The Punk Archive: So recent single Tear Me Down has a really catchy vibe. How do you get that energy and that enthusiasm into a live show?
Danny: I don't know really, we just write it and we enjoy it. We kinda write what we enjoy so that naturally comes across in the music. It's not set to one thing and we try and mix a bit of everything in. It's natural. Get up there and fucking go for it, you know!
The Punk Archive: Naturally talented, yeah! Natural ability…
Danny: I'm not saying anything!
Skarlett: People want to see you enjoying yourself, having lots of energy in the performance. As soon as you're relaxed and being like that, I think everyone else joins in as well…
The Punk Archive: So who are you guys looking forward to seeing today?
Luke: Everybody on the Total Rock stage really. We know quite a few of them, and we've wanted to see quite a few of them for a while. Our merch is there, too, so we're pretty much going to be there all day anyway. There's loads of good bands on the Uprawr stage too, like Yashin and Rise To Remain. We're just looking forward to everything, really, they're all bands we're interested in.
The Punk Archive: Where do you get your influences from?
Skarlett: All sorts, really. I think the key thing with all of us is that we've all got different influences, and we've mixed them all together to find something new. I like Heart, Avril Lavigne, Shinedown, Halestorm…
Luke: To be honest, we're all just massively into music. Obviously you write what you enjoy, and when you mix all that together, you've got a new hybrid breed. I think that's why now, more so than before, there's a lot more ‘alternative’ music which you can't categorise. I mean, when The Beatles were around, they were totally pop, because they were the only band around doing what they were doing. People take that, add something else, and something else: you can't categorise stuff now, it's just 'music', which I think is better.
The Punk Archive: How does it make you feel when you read all the positive press about the band? You must be quite proud and excited…?
Skarlett: Yeah, definitely. We always buy all the magazines!
The Punk Archive: I know what you mean: we're going to keep the Takedown wristband with our logo on it!
Skarlett: Yeah, absolutely, build them all up and watch yourselves grow!
