The Punk Archive: Hey Adam, introduce yourself to our readers?
Adam: We are Never Hill. A five piece alternate rock/ pop-punk band from the Midlands.
The Punk Archive: Talk us through the recording process for the new EP: how was it?Adam: Epilogue started either as a theme, a lick on guitar or taking inspiration from a song we were obsessed with at the time. We would spend endless hours in a room with all our gear set up and just wrote what came naturally to us. The only song on the EP that wasn't written collectively was Colours. That was written and recorded in the confided space of my university bedroom but it is a true representation of how I was feeling at that time in my life and the boys in Never Hill really helped me through it. Each of the songs just kind of formed into this thing we are proud to call ours.
We recorded our EP with Ben Sansom from Lower Than Atlantis at Titan Studios in Watford. We initially just wanted to record two, singles which were Fire and Afraid of the Dark but because those tracks turned out so well we decided to record Forgive Me, Starting Line and Stay Away to create Epilogue. It was done over the course of six months due to us either having full time jobs or being at university as well as fitting in around Ben's hectic schedule with Lower Than Atlantis. Working with Ben was cool. We learnt a lot from him as he was in our position once before and for that he was very humble.
The Punk Archive: Are you pleased with the result? What should fans expect?Adam: Yes. We are very pleased with the result although it's not perfect. We know we can write better material. Fans should expect new and what we feel is better material, though.
The Punk Archive: Who are your biggest musical influences?
Adam: We all come from different musical backgrounds so our influences and music we listen to in our spare time is a bit all over the place. But collectively as a band The Dangerous Summer, Mallory Knox, You Me At Six, The 1975...the list goes on and on.
The Punk Archive: What's next for Never Hill?
Adam: We have a Deluxe Edition of Epilogue dropping in a couple of weeks. We are touring in January as well as gigging most upcoming weekends, writing new material and hopefully be back in the studio sometime next year.
