The Punk Archive: Introduce yourselves to our readers?
Speed Trials: Hey there, we're called Speed Trials. We like the colour black, vests and playing at village fêtes.
The Punk Archive: Are you excited to be playing Nozstock?Speed Trials: Yes very much so, last year we played on the main stage with a previous band called Thistledown and had a lot of fun. Everyone is always up for having a good time, us included! You can catch us on the bandstand stage, Friday 1st at 9pm.
The Punk Archive: What are you most looking forward to about it? Anyone in particular you're wanting to see?
Speed Trials: There are some great, exciting bands playing this year: Demob Happy, Tigercub, Keys and Houdini Dax to name but a few: we're all big fans and real excited to check them out. There's also some band called Fun Lovin' Criminals playing but we won't go there....
The Punk Archive: You've been working with Tom Stanley and Chris Sheldon recently, both of whom have worked with the likes of the Foo Fighters. How was that for you?
Speed Trials: Working with Tom was a great experience, he's worked with some great artists and had plenty of stories about some previous sessions, he also loves a pint! I think he's currently working on the new Maccabees record. Chris mixed our single which we were all chuffed with when we got the final cut back. He recorded the first three Biffy Clyro albums as well as Reuben, Hell is for Heroes and many more. It was that reason why we went with him, what a genius! We'd love to record a full album with him one day.The Punk Archive: What does the rest of 2014 bring for Speed Trials?
Speed Trials: We're recording a single in a few weeks with a chap called Guy Katsav: he did Laura Marling, The View, Adele. The single will be accompanied by a video. Looking at the end of August for release so keep your eyes and your ears open! We also have some exciting shows coming up including one on a boat (27th July) and The Garage in Highbury (15th August) supporting Emily's Army which is Billy Joe Armstrong's son's band, but apparently it's a secret so shhhhh!
The Punk Archive: And finally: have any of you actually been involved in a speed trial before?
Speed Trials: Yes, yes we have but maybe not the kind of speed trial you're thinking of...or maybe it is!
