Nozstock Festival 2014: Preview: The Stiff Joints

As the first part of our Nozstock 2014 coverage, we caught up with Kris from riotous ska-punks The Stiff Joints...

The Punk Archive: Introduce yourselves to our readers?
Kris: We're The Stiff Joints from Kidderminster, a 10 piece ska/punk band formed of some very good mates who love music and have very little else to do in this town!

The Punk Archive: Are you looking forward to playing Nozstock? What's so good about the festival?
Kris: We're very much looking forward to Nozstock again. We all started off going as punters a few years ago, and to be in the audience one year and then on the main stage the next was incredible. There is just such a great vibe (and line-up) at Nozstock, it completely stands out against other festivals of its size and we hope it carries on for years to come.

The Punk Archive: Describe your live show for readers?
Kris: It can be a little chaotic at times, venue permitting. We like to get the energy of the room right up as soon as possible and then keep it there 'til everybody's done. If the crowd aren't moving we must be doing something wrong, so we take it up another gear and see how that works for them.

The Punk Archive: You've just released a new video for Circus On Repeat. How has the reaction been to that?
Kris: This video had been on the burner for a good while now so we're really happy to see such a great response, but then again we wouldn't expect anything less when we work with Tom (Carnie Film Production). He's on the same wavelength as us so we can have a laugh and not have to worry about taking ourselves too seriously, which is what this band was built on from the very beginning.

The Punk Archive: What does the rest of 2014 hold?
Kris: Plenty more gigs and festival appearances this summer, with Nozstock, Boomtown Fair, Kidderminster Fringe, One Love and Brownstock. Then it's back to work on a new CD, which could see a release around Christmas. But it's still a little bit too early to tell!
