Nozstock Festival 2014: Preview: Box of Light

We caught up with Box Of Light ahead of their appearance at this year's Nozstock Festival...

The Punk Archive: Introduce yourselves to our readers?
Box of Light: We're a 5-piece surfy-beach-pop-rock-folk-soul team. We try and make music that makes people happy.

The Punk Archive: Are you excited to be playing Nozstock?
Box of Light: Yes, incredibly excited. We love all festivals indiscriminately. Nozstock looks great.

The Punk Archive: Your influences have been listed as Paramore and Florence and the Machine. How do you feel about that, and is it true?
Box of Light: Florence is cool although not a lot like us really. Not so sure where Paramore came from? Nothing really in common with them apart from the female singer... We're more Beach Boys, Fleetwood Mac, Best Coast influenced. All five of us have radically different tastes so it's pretty hard to pick artists who directly influence the way our music comes together.

The Punk Archive: New single The Island is out 28th July. Are you excited to be releasing it and will it be on your Nozstock setlist?
Box of Light: We are so excited about The Island. It took a lot of work this year getting it out - we made the video and the artwork ourselves - and it is central to what we are right now. We really hope people like it. It will certainly be on our Nozstock set-list.

The Punk Archive: What does the rest of 2014 hold for Box of Light?
Box of Light: The rest of the year holds lots more hard work. We want to keep recording, getting material out, developing our live sound, travel as much as we can, play to anyone who will listen, and keep improving everyday. We are one year into this and are ready to step things up. Big things will be coming.
