I am a lover of packaging as well as good music. Image is important in an industry saturated with decent musicians looking for a hand up - you have to stand out in every way possible. So, when a CD lands through my letterbox in a simple white cardboard sleeve with a CD that looks like a vinyl and the title White Label Copy I can't help but be a little bit impressed.

The Backhanders have gone for old school in a big way. Not just in the presentation of this two track sample EP for me and presumably countless other magazines, radio stations and bloggers to listen to but also in their effortlessly cool mod rock sound.

It's two tracks of melodic guitars, rich, raspy vocals and upbeats. It’s full flavour rock with a hint of country that is quintessentially British in deliverance.

I can hear influences from Beatles, Who, Jam and all those greats but The Backhanders have still managed to maintain their own identity:  I've heard it all yet I haven’t heard enough.  This teaser of a CD is just that. I'm left wanting more.  Bring on the full meal please. I'm hungry.
