The Punk Archive: Are you guys looking forward to playing Takedown?
Phil: Very much so. We've never done it before but the line up is killer, and we love playing Southampton, so yes.
The Punk Archive: Who are you most looking forward to seeing on the day?
Phil: Obviously our Welsh brethren Funeral For A Friend to whom we're good friends. Canterbury as well. All the bands really… Yashin, Feed The Rhino, Jetblack for sure.
The Punk Archive: You've done many festivals over the years. Do any stand out in particular, and why?
Phil: We've managed to play a lot of different festivals throughout our career. Obviously the bigger ones are the sort you aspire to play when you first start a band, and they're an amazing to experience; though we played lots of independent festivals last year, and they were so much fun. Y Not was particularly memorable. Probably up there as one of my favourite UK festivals.
The Punk Archive: You've got a few more festivals booked in this year ahead of your Farewell Tour. Is there something special about playing to the massive crowds festivals can bring?
Phil: Playing a festival is a unique experience. At our own shows, generally you know what to expect because the audience is predominately made up of people who know us. So at a festival, it can be really unpredictable. The audiences are usually bigger & quite varied so it all adds to the excitement.
The Punk Archive: The response to your recent farewell announcement has been massive. How has that made you feel?
Phil: Mixed emotions really. It was a very brave call on our part to make the decision, but the response was really comforting. It was overwhelming to read how much impact our band made to a lot of people, and the reaction to the tour was been incredible. It will been quite the send off for us.
Kids in Glass Houses play The Punk Archive sponsored Takedown Festival on Saturday 15th March. Head to http://takedown.vticket.co.uk/ for tickets.
