The Wreck Up EP: Track-by-Track

Following our review of The Wreck Up's debut self-titled EP (http://thepunkarchive.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/the-wreck-up-wreck-up-ep.html), we got a track-by-track run down from Lew, the band's drummer...

All our songs have been written as a collective and all lyrics are written in reference to a night we had getting way too drunk!

1. Proppin' Up The Bar - This track is about all those times you've been a bit pissed and seen a stinkin’ hot bird in bar or something, who's well out of your league, but due to the volume of shots and other fruit based party drinks, you think 'f**k it, what's the worst that can happen'?! You then proceed to get massively blown out!!

2. Everything I Touch Turns To Shit - This is fairly obvious from the title but it’s about when you try real hard not to not mess a situation up, whether it be a girlfriend, job or whatever but even with all the best intentions it all somehow turns to shit!

3. Nothin' Left To Lose - We’ve been playing in bands together in various forms for ten years or more and this track sums up how we all feel about playing music after all the years of bullshit, no money, miles and hard work. We’ll probably never get any recognition for it but we still we carry on doing it because it’s all we know!!

4. All Gone So Wrong - Everyone has a story about when they popped out for a cheeky pint then woke up in a dress 3 days later covered in ham somewhere in Wales. This track is about those kinda nights!

5. What Did You Do - A classic tale about stopping in at a friend's on the way home for a cuppa... Then out comes the face banger and some tequila! Before you know it, you've actually lost the plot and it’s 8am, there's an angry girlfriend screaming at you, you’ve been sick on the shoe rack, pissed on the DVDs and can't remember a thing about it!

6. Pint In My Hand - We set out to write a song that we could picture ourselves singing to an underpaid barman, who’s trying to close up shop, and has to get the doorman to remove you because your Jedi mind tricks and wisecracks are doing nothing but piss them off! Angry with  your unfair removal you get take out beers from a respectable kebabylon on the way home with the intention of drinking them all and rocking out ‘til the early hours. When you get in you open the first can and pass out after two sips!

7. Be My Baby - An awesome track that if you didn’t know was originally released in 1963 by The Ronettes. We have talked about how this song would really work as a punk cover so whilst writing material for the E.P we worked on it, and it came out pretty good so we stuck it on!
